Adelaide Pollard was a missionary preparing to depart for Africa, but she was prevented from going because her support was not there. Not feeling complete peace, during a prayer meeting she heard the words of another woman grab her heart. The woman said, “It’s alright, Lord! It doesn’t matter what You bring into our lives. Just have Your own way with us.”
Migdalia and I now understand what it’s like to be in this humbling position. Not our will Lord, but Your will be done. Before knowing of Adelaide’s story, Migdalia had recently been reading from Jeremiah, and specifically drawn to Jeremiah 18:4-6, the story of the Potter and the clay, of how He molds us and shapes us into what He wants us to be.
This was the same passage of Scripture that God brought to Adelaide, to give her peace, and to show her the need to submit to Him, and allow Him to shape her into what He indeed wanted her to be. She was inspired to pen the words "Have Thine Own Way, Lord. Have Thine Own Way. Thou art the Potter, I am the clay. Mold me and make me after Thy will, while I am waiting, yielded and still."
Later on, God ultimately opened the door for Adelaide to not only minister in Africa, but also in England, and throughout the United States. We don’t know for sure what God’s next step is for us, all we know is that He has prevented us from returning to Africa at this point in our lives, and it’s time to submit to Him, seek Him, and to be still and listen.
We so gratefully thank all of you who have stood with us, prayed with us and for us, supported us, and encouraged us during the last 3 to 4 years. THANK YOU!
Only by His grace,
